Best Cakes and Pastries at Mother’s Cake House
Second day of Pampanga Food Tour and it was such a nice treat to begin the day at Mother’s Cake House. Equipped with a camera and an empty stomach, I know I will enjoy Day 2 of Pampanga Food Tour and Mother’s was definitely a great start.
Mother’s Cake House is a store that sells home made desserts and pastries. It’s really low in price but with high quality desserts. Pochollo Flores, the young entrepreneur who owned Mother’s greeted us warmly when we arrived for breakfast on the second day of the tour. Mother’s is located at Balibago,Angeles infront of Savers Mall.
Even if the store mostly offer pastries and cakes, they also have other snacks like palabok, tacos (which was soooooo daaamn good) among others!
BEEHIVE
CHOCOLATE CRINKLES
BANANA CAKE
BROWNIES
CREAM PUFFS
PALABOK
BAKED MACARONI
TACOS
SANSRIVAL
MANGO CINNAMON
CROQUEMBOUCHE
I got a lot of favorites here. I love their Beehive. It’s not too sweet. It’s just the right amount of sweetness I like. Mango Cinnamon and Cream Puffs were also my bet! Too sad I wasn’t able to taste Croquembouche because no one dared to break the presentation of those little tiny looking balls dripping with vanilla syrup.
What I love the most though was their Tacos. I think it’s the yummiest tacos I’ve ever tasted so far. It’s so generous with cheese and overpowering with flavor!

Experience Spain with Dos Mestizos
Second restaurant which is included in the Pampanga Food Tour 2015 was DOS MESTIZOS. It was sooooo sooooo far from K CAFÉ. Kidding!!! It was actually just 10 steps away from K CAFÉ. Also located at Nepo Quad in Angeles. Nepo Quad is a building which has rows of different restaurants and DOS MESTIZOS is one of them.
After having our tummy full at K CAFÉ that morning, I still have ample of space on my tummy for the next restaurant. I don’t know if my hopes were high because I was expecting the same service as K CAFÉ’s. No WIFI at the resto which made me sad and the owner wasn’t at the place to greet us. The one-in-charge whose name I didn’t know (because she didn’t introduced herself or maybe I wasn’t just listening when she gave her name). Anyway, the interior of the resto has the Spanish vibe in it because it was really a Spanish restaurant in the first place. The interior was nice, however, I think the place was rather small and can fit only a few number of people inside the resto. Good thing they maximize their front space outside.
We actually didn’t waited much. I think the food was already prepared at the kitchen when we arrived. They just have to reheat it and serve it to us. First impression, the vibe was a little off. I think it’s because of the lighting inside the store. It was a bit dark and there are drapings in some seats which made the space a lot smaller.
Honestly I had a hard time remembering all the names of the food they served to us. Why? No WIFI available at the resto so we weren’t able to update our post with details about their food. Let me just post the dishes and I’ll name a few that I can remember.
CALAMARES FRITOS
PAELLA NEGRA
CROQUETTAS DE QUEZO
CHORIZO
PAELLA VALENCIANA
GAMBAS
CHURROS, CROQUETTAS DE QUEZO and PASTEL RUSO
I really didn’t remember anything much on the menu. What we actually do in events is ask for the name of the product or anything that was being reviewed then type it and post on social media whenever there are available wifi. My phone’s signal was also slow and I wasn’t able to established connection on my mobile data. Really sad! Good thing we had a little cheat sheet though that’s why I was able to provide you with the name of the food on the menu.
Resto Name: DOS MESTIZOS
Address: Plaridel St. Nepo Quad, Angeles City
Type of Food: Spanish
WIFI: NONE 😦
My whole DOS MESTIZOS experience was so-so. It’s a not so good and not so bad kind of feel. I don’t know if I just lack appreciation for the food because I am not into Spanish recipes. I like their Churros though. It’s just a little oily. 😦
Sadly, sadly, I need to go and wasn’t able to attend the last stop of the Food Tour on the first day because I have some wedding matters to attend to that day. ANGELES FRIED CHICKEN was the last on the list for Day 1 and I wasn’t able to taste their dishes. Me and hubby will just visit some other day instead. I will make sure of that!
K Cafe’s Best Sizzling Cheesecake Ever!
Dated Nov. 29, 2015, I finally tasted the best Sizzling Chessecake up to date! Right at this very moment, the experience still reminded me the taste. It’s the reason why I made K CAFÉ as one of the top restaurants that you must visit here in Pampanga. K CAFÉ was the first restaurant on the list to visit in the recently concluded Pampanga Food Tour 2015 and it was really incomparable to other dessert resto in Angeles City. We feasted our hearts ‘till our tummy and organs blew up. (Don’t take it literally tho)
CAKES
K CAFÉ is located at Nepo Quad in Angeles City which caters scrumptious dishes from their appetizers to their main dish. The owner, Miss Caren Kwong Basilio was the husband of Mr. Caloy Basilio who was one of the owners of Bif’s where we had a food event earlier this year. We already knew her from then and she graciously welcomed the whole team and generously served us with their delectable dishes. Let your eyes and mouth water on these set of food from their menu. In addition to their delicious treats, they have FREE and FAST WIFI inside the store!
ROASTED BONE MARROW
VIETNAMESE SPRING ROLLS
ASIAN GAMBAS
BULALO STEAK
JAMBALAYA PASTA
CALIFORNIA MAKI SALAD
IBERIAN CHICKEN
SALMON SISIG
K CAFÉ appetizers and main dishes were already a hit. Almost All the dishes served to us were so delectable that you will be coming back for more. I especially like the CALIFORNIA MAKI SALAD because it has that spiciness I was looking for. I am a big fan of sushis and makis but not in the salad form. This is something different for me. I recommend that you should try it.
ROASTED BONE MARROW was definitely my top choice alongside with ASIAN GAMBAS. A huge fan of seafood and shrimps here. I just want to come back but both were gone after just a few minutes!
RED VELVET CHEESECAKE
PASTILLAS CHEESECAKE
DULCE DE LECHE
TURTLE MOUSSE
SIZZLING APPLE CHEESECAKE
SIZZLING APPLE CHEESECAKE is the bomb! The Cheesecake ever!!! It isn’t too sweet. It just had the right blend of creaminess and sweetness with the vanilla ice cream on top. It definitely summed up our whole experience at K CAFE. It’s the best!
I definitely recommend to all my readers that you should try K CAFE at Nepo Quad once you’re around the area. My friends who saw my IG posts on the food told me that they had a great experience with the restaurant. Highly recommended!!!
Resto Name: K CAFÉ

Wear Kapampangan Photoshoot
I am no supermodel but I was lucky enough to join the Pampanga Bloggers photoshoot before the start of the Pampanga Food Tour 2015. I mentioned about the said event on my last blog post. We got a sponsor for our clothing from a brand named WEAR KAPAMPANGAN. It is a clothing company that emerged from Pampanga that sells clothes that have Kapampangan quotations and sayings in front of their tees. WEAR KAPAMPANGAN is an Indie clothing line aimed to promote the beauty of the Kapampangan language through graphic designed T-shirts and Print media.
Pampanga Bloggers – Marrient. Donna, Will, Me and Armela
All bloggers who attended the Pampanga Restaurant Food Tour event received a tee from them. Pampanga Bloggers were the first batch to make the photoshoot and the Manila Bloggers took theirs the morning after.
The whole photoshoot was made possible by one of the country’s top blogger photographer, Mr. Rob Pinzon of palibut.com.
PAMPANGA FOOD TOUR INVITE
It was with pride and honor that I was one of the chosen bloggers from Pampanga to participate in the Pampanga Restaurant Food Tour which happened last Nov.29-30,2015. Luckily, the 30th of November fell on a holiday and I don’t have work that time so I was able to attend the said event. It was a two-day food adventure on different restaurants situated in Angeles City. My next succeeding posts here in the blog will be regarding all the restaurants we’ve visited and it will be up really soon. I’m sure it will entice you in visiting Pampanga and trying the dishes and restaurants here in the province.
Meet the Pampanga and Manila Blogger group during the food tour. More of our photos on the next posts.

SMILES IN MILES AWAY PREVIEW
Thank you for visiting my newest blog. This is Theresa of www.cuteanddainty.com and I decided to put up another blog which focuses on food and travel. I created this in mind for the purpose of differentiating my beauty and review blog from my food and travel posts. Let me also add in this humble web abode the adventures and explorations I will discover from this moment onward, especially now that I am newly married with my hubby Jaycee. So this will function as a collaborative blog of some sort. Can I change the entire first person pronoun “I” to it’s plural form “WE” this time? 🙂
